Abby Israel is a lighting designer and technician based in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and discovered her passion for theatre stage managing in high school. While studying theatre at the College of Charleston, she found a love for lighting.

Abby’s design work has been showcased on the College of Charleston MainStage in Pathways: A Dance Concert, and her assistant design work has been featured in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II and What Comes Next: A Dance Concert.

She has also served as Head Electrician for several College of Charleston shows such as Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II, Home by Samm-Art Williams, and Dracula by Kate Hamill.

In Spring 2025, she will be co-designing Cofc Stages student-choreographed dance concert: Moved by Memories, as well as lighting designing for Center Stage’s (CofC student run theatre group) production of The Arkansaw Bear in January. She will also be head electrician for CofC’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in April.
